Chain Too Short Sound

You may hear this type of chain clattering if your chain is too short.

Notice how linear the chain becomes when in the largest rear cog.

Root Cause

You have installed a chain which is too short for the gearing that you have on your Neo and your front chainrings.

Steps To Resolve

Re-measure your chain according to the manufacturer’s instructions. There are many reasonable guidelines to follow, but as there are variations from manufacturer to manufacturer, you should always follow their recommendations.

Generally, the rule is to wrap the chain around your largest chain ring, and largest rear cog until they line up, and then add two additional links to account for your rear derailleur.

Your Neo is working normally.
